To sum it up, this new Mahabharat is the best thing running on Indian television and to those for whom it appears as soap opera should really get a medical check-up of their ability to analyze things properly. On one thing, I would like to really applaud this Mahabharata team is that they even after 2 decades of gap (since the 1st mahabharat was telecasted) haven't diluted the aspect of culture, ethics and practices of Indian tradition which shall have some positive influence on our present day youngsters.

Alongwith that the teachings of Lord Krishna in between the episodes are truly full of wisdom and knowledge for the current generation of young Indians who are torn between the worlds of modernity and traditions. However the actor playing Bheeshm and Lord Krishna are outstanding. As yet of now everyone is acting superbly. I personally like Rajyabhisekh Mantra, Karna's Theme, Parshuram's Theme ,Bheshma's Theme and above all Krishna's amazing flute music. Moreover the Sets can rival that of Hollywood production while the background score of Ajay-Atul is enigmatic and the hallmark of this series. The negative characters like Dhritrashtra and Shakuni are shown as to how circumstances made them the way they were. Now in this Mahabharat the characters have been treated to quite an extent objectively and have been allowed sufficient space to grow. However as the they pass away things begin to get settled down and the story begins to pick up the right grip/pace. The few episodes in the beginning may have appeared to be like a fast- forward of the story of mahabharat revolving around king shantanu. Although the promos were looking very engrossing but yet this element of doubt was always there. All the sons of Dhritarashtra died in the war, except Yuyutsu, his son through a vaishya woman - Sugdha.Everyone including myself wondered whether this new Mahabharat by Swastik Production will ever live up to the masterpiece created by BR Chopra more than 2 decades back. The battle saw the deaths of Bhishma, Karna among many. This results in the Kurukshetra War where Shri Krishna imparts Bhagwad Gita to his Pandav cousin Arjuna.
He sowed the seeds of the climactic battle during the adolescence of the Kauravas(Sons of Dhritarashtra) and the Pandavas(Sons of Pandu) by poisoning the mind of Duryodhan the eldest Kaurav against the Pandavas. Shakuni felt that he was cheated and so he swore to himself that he would destroy the Kuru race.
During the Coronation Ceremony Dhritrashtra's younger brother Pandu was made the king with the high interfluence of Vidura(Dhritrashtra's another younger brother). But he later agreed when Bhishma persuaded them that Dhritrashtra would be the future king of Hastinapur. When Bhishma asked for Gandhari's hand in marriage for his blind nephew Dhritarashtra, her brother Shakuni got furious. Thus Karn made a vow to protect Duryodhan throughout his lifetime and fought on his behalf against the Pandavas in the Kurukshetra War. Karn fought against misfortune throughout his life, and was often ill-treated as he was the son of a charioteer.(Adirath, a charioteer and his wife Radha found Karna on the banks of river Ganga and raised him as their own.) Duryodhan, the mortal enemy of the Pandavas was the only person who supported Karn, even when the Pandava brothers insulted him for being a skilled archer while belonging to a lower caste. Neither Karn, nor the Pandavas knew the true identity of Karn until the end of the Kurukshetra War. After her marriage to Pandu, Kunti invoked other deities and had her sons, Yudhishtir, Bhim, Arjun, Nakul and Sahadev(from Madri).
Kunti, an unwed mother, set Karn afloat on the river Ganga with a heavy heart, in order to avoid the embarrassment of having a child before marriage.
Out of curiosity, she decided to test the boon and uttered the mantra calling upon the Sun god and was handed a baby, Karna. Kunti obtained a boon from sage Durvasa, where she could invoke any deity and could bear his child. Duryodhan, younger than Yudhisthir, the biggest Pandav. Both Duryodhan and Yudhisthir claim to be first in line to inherit the throne. Mahabharat presents the story of the throne of Hastinapur, the kingdom ruled by the Kuru clan where the Kauravas and the Pandavas brothers compete for rulership.
